In addition to the commercial aspects of the farm, food stores will all be provided free or at reduced cost to special needs groups including local food banks, schools and “food desert” neighborhoods. The farm also offers education for adults and school children on nutrition and modern, local farming.
Citifarms grows its product in a “clean room” utilizing strict hydroponic methods and proprietary technology growing “microgreen superfood” under LED lights. Citifarms is educating school children at a local Charter School how to grow indoors and is also working with the school to develop a new hydroponic farming class in their curriculum.
